January 8, 2008  Winter Preservation Workshop
"Researching Your Historic House"
7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Carriage House Interpretive Center
Join Suzanne Stanis, Director of Heritage Education and experienced house sleuth from Historic Landmarks of Indiana as she guides beginners through the twists and turns of old house research.

January 22, 2008  Winter Preservation Workshop
"Adding Modern Comforts to Your Historic Home"
7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Carriage House Interpretive Center
This workshop will provide an overview of new materials and methods for improving the comfort and efficiency of your home without destroying its historic character. Scott Pannicke with Ratio Architects will lead the presentation, leaving ample time to address attendees' individual questions.

February 5, 2008  Winter Preservation Workshop
"Historic House Interior Fixtures & Finishes"
7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Carriage House Interpretive Center
Nationally-recognized interior designer Donna J. Barr will help attendees determine the suitable finishes-paint, wallpaper, woodwork finish, hardware and window treatments-for their historic structures. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos of their own homes and specific questions about their own decorating projects. February 19, 2008  Winter Preservation Workshop
"Historic Masonry Concerns & Treatments"
7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Carriage House Interpretive Center
Historic masonry experiences a variety of actions due to freezing and thawing, tuckpointing, replacement and more. Come hear Joe Marano and Dick Bonin of Western Waterproofing talk about best practices for masonry treatments and address some common concerns.

March 15, 2008 (rain date March 16)  City of Crawfordsville Easter Egg Hunt
On the grounds of the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum.
Join the kids of Montgomery County as they hunt for treasures amid the Study's gorgeous grounds. A spring tradition! The Easter Bunny will also be in attendance. Contact the Crawfordsville Parks & Recreation Department, 765-364-5175, for event times and details.

Our annual exclusive event gives LWSPS members a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at this year's new exhibit, Lew Wallace-Gentleman Scientist. Contact the Museum at 765-362-5769 for membership information.

March 29, 2008  Public Exhibit Opening of our 2008 Exhibit, Lew Wallace-Gentleman Scientist
Come celebrate the grand opening of our new exhibit with exciting displays, hands-on artifacts, special programming and refreshments. It's the Carriage House Interpretive Center like you've never seen it before!

April 5, 2008  Park Day
The General Lew Wallace Study and Museum partners with the Civil War Preservation Trust and the History Channel to help preserve and rejuvenate the grounds of this local Civil War heritage site. The public is invited from 9:00 am-12:00 pm to help with a number of indoor and outdoor projects. Free refreshments and t-shirts will be available for all participants! April 10, 2008  Lew Wallace's Birthday Celebration
Come celebrate Major General Lew Wallace's 181st birthday with a special party on the grounds of his Study. Families can enjoy free admission to the Museum, a kids' garden activity, and a free gift.

May 18, 2008  International Museum Day has been celebrated throughout the world since 1977. In celebration of the impact that museums have on the cultural enrichment of the community, the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum will be offering free tours of its facilities, light refreshments, and a free gift to all visitors.

June 4, 2008  The Brown Bag Book Club is back! For three months, exciting discussions will revolve around great titles chosen for their relation to this year's Museum exhibit. This month's selection is the 2004 blockbuster bestseller, The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. All books featured in the Brown Bag Book Club will be sold at the Museum's Gift Shop at a discount. Come and join this fascinating discussion from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Museum, and bring your lunch!

June 13-15, 2008  The Strawberry Festival
Reacquaint yourself with the Museum and the city's other cultural attractions during this annual summer festival, held on the grounds of Lane Place, 212 South Water Street in Crawfordsville.

June 22, 2008  The Flower Lovers Garden Walk will be headquartered this year on the Museum's verdant grounds. Drop by the Museum for tickets and information on all other featured gardens on this year's walk.

July 2, 2008  The Brown Bag Book Club will discuss The Wizard of Menlo Park: How Thomas Alva Edison Invented the Modern World, a fascinating treatise on one of the most important inventors in American history. All books featured in the Brown Bag Book Club will be sold at the Museum's Gift Shop at a discount. Bring your lunch from 12:00-1:00 pm and enjoy the discussion!

July 8-12, 2008  The Lew Wallace Youth Academy returns for a fourth exciting year, meeting from July 8-12 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Montgomery County's brightest middle-school students gather for General Wallace's story in a week-long history day camp focusing on the qualities of character, leadership and lifelong learning that he embodied throughout his life. August 2, 2008  Discovery Saturday a fascinating experience that delves into the worlds of invention, nature, and innovation with hands-on education stations located throughout General Wallace's Study, grounds, and Carriage House. Learn secrets and details of the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum that you've never heard before!

August 6, 2008  The Brown Bag Book Club will discuss Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail, a hearty celebration of America's natural gifts. All books featured in the Brown Bag Book Club will be sold at the Museum's Gift Shop at a discount. Bring your lunch from 12:00-1:00 pm and enjoy the discussion!

September 6, 2008  The second-annual Taste of Montgomery County will delight your taste buds with sumptuous delicacies from a delicious variety of local restaurants and caterers, and we'll get your feet dancing with awesome live music from three great regional bands, all on the gorgeous grounds of the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum. Our 2007 event was a gigantic success; do not miss out on this bigger, better and tastier sequel! October 5, 2008  The 5th Annual Artists in Residence Program features some of the area's brightest local artists, showcasing their work and demonstrating their craft on the grounds of the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum. The public is invited to attend this free event and watch the birth of some beautiful art; you may even get a chance to create some art of your very own! Tours of the Museum are also free during the Program.

October 18, 2008  Architecture Walking Tour (POSTPONED)
The General Lew Wallace Study and Museum boasts one of the most unique structures in the Midwest, but the city of Crawfordsville has much more for architecture buffs to discover! Join our Museum staff as we locate some of the area's most fascinating historic buildings.

December 14, 2008  The Holiday Open House at the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum is your last chance to view this year's Museum Exhibit, Lew Wallace-Gentleman Scientist. Visitors can make their own holiday crafts to take home, and refreshments will be provided.
