  • Winter Preservation Workshop
    7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

    “Pictures and Papers”, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Carriage House Interpretive Center.  Join Wabash College Archivist Beth Swift as she introduces participants to products and practices used to keep family heirloom documents in the best possible condition for future generations.  Registration fee is $15 for Museum members and members of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana; $25 for non-members.  Contact 765-362-5769 or email study@ben-hur.com to register.

    “Historic Roofing”, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Carriage House Interpretive Center.  Representatives from Henry C. Smither Roofing Company in Indianapolis will provide an overview of historic roofing materials and acceptable replacements, as well as discussing maintenance strategies that can help prevent unneeded repairs.  Registration fee is $15 for Museum members and members of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana; $25 for non-members.  Contact 765-362-5769 or email study@ben-hur.com to register.

    The General Lew Wallace Study and Museum partners with the Civil War Preservation Trust and the History Channel to help preserve and rejuvenate the grounds of this local Civil War heritage site.  The public is invited from 9:00 a.m.--12:30 p.m. to help with a number of indoor and outdoor projects.  Free refreshments will be available for all participants!  Contact the Museum or log on to www.civilwar.org/parkday for further information.

    The Holiday Open House and Last Day of the Season at the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum is your last chance to view this year’s Museum Exhibit, Sanctuary: Preserving the Legacy of Lew Wallace.  The Carriage House Interpretive Center will be dressed in its holiday finery, and visitors can play games and make their own holiday crafts to take home.  Refreshments will be provided and admission is free!
