Lew Wallace worked as a prosecuting attorney in the Montgomery Co. Circuit Courts from 1849 until the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861. While he is best known for his military, political, and literary careers, what about his 12 year law career? This lecture explores Wallace’s role as an attorney during a time when Montgomery Co. and all of Indiana was undergoing a radical change from frontier law to modern law.
