Civil War Lecture: The Battle of Mobile Bay

The General Lew Wallace Study & Museum will continue its Civil War lecture series on Thursday, May 1, at 7:00 p.m. in the Carriage House Interpretive Center at the Museum.

Civil War historian Alan Hinds will discuss the Battle of Mobile Bay in detail, using handouts and sequential battle charts. The Battle of Mobile Bay was one of the few naval engagements between the North and South. Crawfordsville native General Edward Canby, one of Lew’s friends, was present with the land troops during this campaign.

Alan Hinds is past president of the Indianapolis Civil War Round Table.

The lecture is free but space is limited so please RSVP by calling the Museum at 765-362-5769 or emailing us through our Contact Page. RSVPing is very important because at our last lecture we had 40 people, and we were a bit cramped! Make sure you let us know to expect you!

If you aren’t able to join us, be sure to follow our Twitter @wallacestudy, where we will live-Tweet tidbits from the lecture using the hashtag #CivilWarLecture.
