Noon to 10 PM

The TASTE! of Montgomery County is a panorama of sights, a symphony of sounds, and a festival of flavors that represent all that’s great about our little corner of the Midwest.

Every year in late summer, restaurants, caterers and food vendors from throughout Montgomery County will gather on the shady, rolling hills of the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum to showcase a huge variety of their tastiest treats and most mouth-watering morsels.

To add some sound bites to the food bites, the TASTE also hosts three musical acts—live and direct from the heartland—that represent three different musical genres. From jazz to country, oldies to folk to rock and roll, the TASTE features terrific tunes to satisfy almost every palate.

For lifelong residents or those just passing through, the TASTE! of Montgomery County puts the sweetness of Hoosier living right on your plate.

Tickets are $5/adult, $3/student, children 6 and under are free. Food tickets are $1/ticket, and no food item is more than 4 tickets.

Please note that the Study building is NOT available for tours during the TASTE.

The Leadsmen – 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

LeadsmenA favorite local band and a real 60s band, the Leadsmen played our inaugural TASTE in 2007, and we’re thrilled to announce that they will be joining us for our tenth anniversary!

In 1965, four junior high school musicians from Crawfordsville formed a band to play some of their favorite top 40 rock and roll hits of the time period. The Leadsmen played at dances and parties and became very popular in the area covering songs by the Hollies, the Buckinghams, the Beatles, the Byrds, the Stones and many others. Then in 1970, the demands of life caused the band to drift apart. Just over 30 years later, in 2002, they decided to reunite for fun and nostalgia. They have been having a blast playing songs from the past ever since. Original members Ray Kirtley (drums/vocal), Dan Wills (guitar/keyboards/vocals) and Kenn Clark (keyboards/vocals) were joined by newcomer John Ford (bass/vocals). And now, with the return of the other original member, F. David Will (guitar/vocal), The Leadsmen are once again complete.

“We’re not trying to relive our youth … we’re just visiting!”
